In 1994, the futuristic world of Battletech made its way from the popular role-playing game board, and equally successful computer game series, to an animated television series. With its obviously anime-inspired look, Battletech featured half-hour episodes each week that followed a continuous storyline.

In the Battletech world, soldiers equipped with gigantic battle suits called mechs fought wars endless wars in a fight between good and evil. On the good side were human pilots Major Adam Steiner, Captain Miles Hawkins, Lieutenant Rachel Specter, and Captain Valten Ryder. Over on the bad side of the tracks, Malthus and his legions of evildoers.

Although the show featured hi-tech computer generated animation, such as when the mechs went into “Enhanced Battlemode,” there just wasn’t enough crossover fans from the board and video game markets and, sadly, after a mere season, the wars of Battletech would be fought without any human television-watching witnesses. For fans of the series, however, there are talks of a live action motion picture coming to the big screen and for those that don’t have the patience to wait for the premiere, there are huge assortment of novels, over a hundred to date, based on the Battletech world.
