If you grew up in the late 80s, early 90s, then you probably have heard of the name Chip & Pepper.  Heck, if you’re into designer clothes, you’ve most likely read their names on the back pocket of someone’s pants… maybe your own pants!  As their clothing line was just taking off, Canadian twins Chip and Pepper Foster got noticed by then-NBC head Brandon Tartikoff.  And yes, those are their real, birth certificate names.

Tartikoff offered them the opportunity to host their own Saturday morning variety show, the aptly named Chip & Pepper’s Cartoon Madness.  The show, a mix of sketches and interviews in between cartoons, was a cornerstone of their Saturday morning programming bringing the old and the new together again, by showing classic clips from shows like Captain Caveman and Casper the Friendly Ghost.  Also on board was Buzz Belmondo fresh from the recently-wrapped sitcom, Out of this World

Unfortunately for fans of the show, and of cartoons in general, Chip & Pepper’s Cartoon Madness, along with every other cartoon on NBC’s Saturday morning line-up, was summarily dumped for shows like Saved by the Bell and California Dreams.  Today, the twins run their own successful clothing line, which has been in business for over two decades.  Busy as ever, the Chip and Pepper name lives on to influence a generation in a different way.
