That lovable arthropod, Atom Ant, a small but mighty superhero joined forces with Secret Squirrel in the 60s on the highly popular Hanna-Barbera production, The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show, a lighthearted animated spoof of the popular superhero and spy genre films of the day.

With the ability to lift up to ten times his body weight, and a helmet, compete with antennae to communicate with his superiors, Atom spent most of his time pursuing a host of enemies, each of which who was listed in his “Crook Book”. With a small stature, yet mighty voice, he would unleash the battle cry, “Up and at em, Atom Ant” during each episode.

On the flip side of the series, Secret Squirrel, aka Agent 000, donned a trenchcoat filled to the brim with high-tech gadgets, as he and his sidekick, the Peter Lorre-esque Morocco Mole carried out their duties for the illustrious Double Q spy agency in London. In a play on an infamous James Bond villian, the team instead spent much of their time tracking the villinous Yellow Pinky.

Atom and his nut gathering cohost/supersleuth, had a few other guests that often shared the spotlight, such as Precious Pupp, a conniving dog who lived with his motorcycle riding and free wheeling Granny who often left him home while she did whatever motorcycle grannies do in their free time. The Hillbilly Bears were an Appalachian clan of bears, led by patriarch, Paw Rugg. Maw Rugg ran the houselhold, her trusty pipe always close at hand, and siblings, Floral and Shagg, did what most teenagers do - not much of anything.

By 1967, Atom Ant and Secret Squirrel briefly parted ways when Atom finally got his own The Atom Ant Show and his pal starred in The Secret Squirrel Show. But its never wise to split up a successful team and less than a year after taking the solo route,  the two joined forces again to once again co-headline this popular animated series, which ended in 1968. For fans of Secret Squirrel, however, his days on television weren't quite over. He came out of retirement more than 25 years after the original series, alongside his faithful cohort, Morocco Mole, to take part in the all-new Hanna-Barbera series, 2 Stupid Dogs. As to Atom Ant's fate, it is assumed that he took the leisurely route and tours various picnic grounds in his twilight years.
