Release History:

1993 - ? syndicated
This animated series was based loosely on the arcade game of the same name. In the arcade version, Marian has been kidnapped by criminals, and Jimmy Lee and Billy Lee, twin brothers who are martial arts experts, have to fight evil goons to get her free.

Since that wasn’t much of a story to build an ongoing series with, the TV show was broadened to include the fact that Billy and Jimmy were separated at birth. Billy grows up in Metro City’s Chinatown, where he’s a student of the Oldest Dragon, the head of the crimefighting ninja organization called the Dragonmasters. The Dragonmasters do battle against Shadowboss and his cronies, including giant thug Abobo.

When he is eighteen, Billy has become an instructor in the Dragonmasters’ martial arts school and a Metro City deputy. Suddenly, his long lost brother Jimmy runs into the school, saying that the Shadowboss was chasing him. It turns out that Jimmy himself was the Shadowboss, a turn of events that set off some major sibling rivalry, made more complicated by the fact that each brother felt the other’s pain. When they finally come around to being friends, they team up to fight the evil Shadowmaster, their true enemy.

The animated gangs each had their own set of battle vehicles and laser guns, in addition to their cool ninja moves. Video game character Marian was no longer helpless, but rather a tough Metro City police officer.

The series was featured as part of DIC/Bohbot's weekend syndicated package Amazin' Adventures. The TV show was only moderately successful, but the video game continued to be a source of characters and storylines, and became one of the more successful arcade games.
