Release History:

9/13/97 ABC
It's a jungle gym out there. Recess told the tale of six fourth-graders' daily struggles with teachers, homework, bullies and unidentifiable lunch meats. The creators of Rugrats created the show and infused with the same quirkiness, wackiness and overall charm.

T.J. was the leader of the group, social and confident. Gretchen was a lanky genius, while Vince was an athlete. Mikey was a big guy with an even bigger heart (metaphorically, not medically), Gus was a pessimist and Spinelli was a tomboy with plenty of attitude.

The kids met with some strange fellow students on the playground, including Upside-Down Girl who never left the monkey bars, Swing Girl, King Bob the resident heartthrob and the Digger twins who maintained an elaborate warren of tunnels underneath the yard. T.J. and the gang also had to contend with Miss Finster, who kept a close supervisory eye on everyone during recess.

The series aired for seven seasons on ABC's One Saturday Morning animation block and was popular enough to give rise to a feature film and several direct-to-video movies.
