Release History:

1990 - 1991 syndicated
In 1990, school kids across the country could tune in to Hanna-Barbera's Wake, Rattle & Roll weekday morning show before they trooped off to yet another unpleasant day of school. The series was part live-action, part cartoon, featuring some old H-B favorites like Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound.

In the live-action part of the show, Sam Baxter, teen tech genius, hung out in his parents' basement with his robot D.E.C.K.S., that he had build out of spare TV and VCR parts. Sam didn't lack human company though and best friend K.C. popped in every once in a while, as did Sam's nutty magician grandfather, Grandpa Quirk. Older sister Debbie invaded the basement on a regular basis, causing D.E.C.K.S. to light up in "Debbie Detector" mode. The homemade robot was a font of knowledge about history, geography and science, teaching Sam and the kids at home in that cool way robots have. Sam also possessed a time machine and famous historical figures would often join D.E.C.K.S. for a history lesson.

The animated segments were "Fender Bender 500" and "Monster Tails." The first featured familiar cartoon characters racing around the world in wacky vehicles. The contestants included Snagglepuss, Yogi Bear and Quick Draw McGraw driving trucks like the Jellystone Jammer (Yogi and Boo Boo), the Swamp Stomper (Magilla Gorilla and Wally Gator) and the Dirty Truckster (Dick Dastarly and Muttley).

"Monster Tails" adorable premise was that while famous movie monsters were off in Hollywood making films, their pets stayed at a castle in Transylvania under the care of Igor Jr., son of Igor. It was easy to guess which pet went with which monster: Frankenmutt had super-canine strength and the brain of a genius, Catula was Dracula's little cat, Mumfrey was an insomniac dog belonging to the Mummy  and Angel was the ghost goldfish of the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

The series soon moved to the Disney Channel, under the new title Jump, Rattle & Roll and it wasn't just for early morning watchers any more. Disney added reruns of more Hanna-Barbera cartoons, like The Flintstones, but didn't produce any new content.
