Release History:

1988-1989 syndicated
3/27/93 - 9/4/93 CBS
1/2/95 - 3/29/95 USA
Set in the year 2020 in Empire City, C.O.P.S. was the Central Organization of Police Specialists. These specialized, cyborg-enhanced law officers clashed with the "The Big Boss" and his own gang of “bionic” bad guys.

C.O.P.S. were lead by former FBI officer, Baldwin P. "Bulletproof" Vess. His team consisted of an array of specialists with different skills – Longarm captured criminals with his extending limbs, Highway used to be a California Highway Patrol officer who could move at super-fast speeds, Bowzer was a canine expert and worked with the cyborg dog Blitz, and Mainframe was a genius on computers. Other C.O.P.S. officers were Hardtop, Mace, Barricade, Bullseye and Mirage.

Their arch-nemesis, The Big Boss, spoke with a gangster-style Edward G. Robinson accent, and oversaw a group of law-breakers that were also cyber-enhanced. They had names like Berserko, Rock Krusher, Ms. Demeanor, Nightshade, Buttons McBoomBoom and Dr. Badvibes. The C.O.P.S. also had to deal with the corrupt bureaucracy lead by Mayor Davis, who was often used without his knowledge in the Big Boss’ evil  plans, generally in an effort to cut costs and gain political power.

After a half hour of action-packed crime fighting, C.O.P.S. gave kids life lessons about staying out of trouble, being a good citizen, not taking drugs, etc. They partnered with organizations such as DARE, the National Crime Prevention Council and the California Highway Patrol to get their point across.

The show lasted only one season in syndication, but, as it was a daily show, finished up with 65 episodes. CBS brought back Cyber C.O.P.S. in 1993 – the same show with a new title – on Saturday mornings. That lasted another six months before the C.O.P.S. were permanently off the beat.
