Sweet Doctor Snuggles presented a quaint little world where woodland animals could talk and have adventures. Created by Jeffrey O'Kelly, the good doctor was a small British-style man (although the show was developed by the Dutch) with a good-sized belly perfect for cuddling. He traveled around his woods on a pogo stick of his own making, when he wasn’t inventing things like his Dreamy Boom Boom rocket and his Multi-Whereabouts Machine, which could find anything you might have lost. His friends were his lab assistant Dennis the Badger, his housekeeper Miss Nettles, Grannie Toots and her Cosmic Cat, Knobby the Mouse, and his homemade robot Mathilda Junkbottom. Not to mention the shed where he worked, a talking building named Rickety Rick.

 

Both Doctor Snuggles and his Uncle Bill had adventures that saw them go everywhere from the Amazon to outer space. But the doctor often had trouble with resident baddie Professor Emerald the wizard, as well as Willie the Terrible Fox and his crony Charlie Rat. 

 

This optimistic show had only 13 half-hour episodes, but it made an impact on children across the globe. The good doctor continued his adventures in picture books, and the series continues in syndication in selected markets around the world.
