Taking advantage of the koala kraze of the 1980s, Noozles was a Japanese animated series full of kute, kuddly kreatures. Yeah, let's stop that k thing.

The show started with 12-year old Sandy Brown who lived with her grandmother while her father was globe-trotting and doing archeologist-type things. Sandy received a package containing what looked like a stuffed koala which came to life when Sandy 'noozled' the toy, i.e. rubbed noses with him. The now live koala's names was Blinky and he revealed that he was actually a refugee from a parallel dimension, a world called Koalawalla Land. As soon as Blinky came to life, another koala appeared to Sandy, Blinky's little pink sister, Pinky. She wanted to take Blinky back with her to Koalawalla but Blinky refused because their homeland was lousy with kangaroo cops who could fly. As anime shows go, flying kangaroo cops are hardly the weirdest thing that could happen.

The trio went on to have many adventures, aided by Pinky's makeup compact that can open portals in space and time and Blinky's magic watch that can stop time. The human-koala team traveled between Koalawalla Land and Earth with ease, but they were frequently pestered by Frankie and Spike, a criminal duo who wanted to capture Blinky and Pinky.

The series was very popular in Japan in the late 80s and came to U.S. audiences in 1988, where it aired on Nickelodeon for five years before moving to syndicated reruns in 90s.
