"We're gonna razzle-dazzle you!"

Emerging from Portland Oregon, the musical Hudson Brothers had a few small successes as recording artists before deciding to get their feet wet as television celebrities. Consisting of siblings Bill, Mark and Brett, they mixed musical performances with comedy in a number of variety shows that aired both in prime-time and on Saturday mornings during the 70s.

Their first attempt was The Hudson Brothers Show, which debuted on CBS in 1978. The prime-time show offered their own unique brand of wacky shenanigans and comedy sketches, as well as musical performances and a number of special guests. One particularly memorable performer was comedian/puppeteer Rod Hull, whose Emu puppet would regularly attack any cast member who ridiculed it.

The Hudson Brothers Show
(which was produced by the same company that created the enormously successful variety series The Sonny and Cher Show) lasted for a single season before a decision was made to move it to Saturday mornings and re-name it The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Comedy Show. Altered to be quite a bit more kid-friendly, it would also only survive for a single season, lasting until August 1975. Four years later, they would make another attempt with the British produced variety show, Bonkers, which developed a small cult following in the United States.

Bill Hudson would go on to marry Goldie Hawn in 1976. Their daughter is actress Kate Hudson. Brett started his own television production company, which produces the tabloid series, A Current Affair. And Mark spends his time producing a number of musical acts including Aerosmith, Ringo Starr and Hanson. The Hudson Brothers teamed up professionally once again in 1983, to star in the horror/comedy film, Hysterical.
