The Shari Lewis ShowPosted On: 12/30/07 |
The Shari Lewis ShowWhile I had not yet entered the world when Shari Lewis' first shows were on the air, I always loved seeing her, as well as her puppet "Lamb Chop" throughout the 70's guesting on various game shows such as "Hollywood Squares" and whatnot. Shari wasn't just a puppeter, she brought life to her sidekicks. Lamb Chop, Charlie Horse, and Hush Puppy were full of wisecracks which often made Shari the "straightman" in her act. Always great to see Shari and one of her puppets in the center square. In later years, while babysitting my sister's kids, I was reintroduced to Lamb Chop and company through Shari's PBS shows "Lamb Chop's Playalong" and "Charlie Horse Music Pizza". Again the wisecracking puppets stole the show, and even though these were kids' shows, Shari Lewis had me laughing along with my sister's kids. My favorite memory...during "LambChop's Playalong"...Shari and HushPuppy "debating" the William Tell Overture...singing their various thoughts to the actual classical tune. Funny back and fourth jabs set to music! Loved it!Gold Stars: 5 GOLD STARS:
