BIO:
Some of my memories include having grass fights with all my friends after the grasscutters were finished...we'd pile all that grass up into a huge pile and have a WAR! Then, we'd just sit on the hill that we had our war on,helping each other pick the blades off, itching like mad, and wait for the ice cream man to come...and then we'd all lay on the hill, and watch the stars come out...God, that was HEAVEN!
The first record album I bought all by myself was John Denver's Greatest Hits. I played that thing until it the grooves wore out.
As you can see, my first love was Shaun Cassidy...my cousin and I would fight over who was more devoted to him. (I won) Got to see him live in concert twice!
I loved Van Halen in Jr. High school...was in love with Alex Van Halen and got teased so much. "EW, Eddie is so hot..." uhm, okay. Heart was my favorite, though. Dreamboat Annie...SIGH.
Got into New Wave big time in the mid 80's. I didn't dress the part, but loved it all the same...the closest I came to wearing New Wave stuff was when I discovered Pat Benatar. Okay, I adored her. I wanted to BE HER.
By the time I entered high school, I loved all music, but mostly classic rock. My first boyfriend (and real first love) turned me onto the Mod scene...early Beatles, the Jam and the Kinks...all who I still love today...except for my first love. He turned out to be a real creep. Live & learn.
Now, I still love all music..even bluegrass. My children love the music I grew up on, which at times is a bit scary! My oldest son thinks it's weird that I love the Clash just as much as he does!
I'm so glad that this place is here! I'm really having fun hearing everyone talk about their childhood memories!
Cheers!
Mary...aka SMG!
