The ClashPosted On: 01/24/07 |
MEMORY:One morning in 1977 I got out of bed and flicked on the FM radio in my room to the local rock station. I was getting bored with the music that was out at the time and hoping for something new and different to come along. At the same time as I powered up the stereo, the DJ at the radio station had just put the needle on a new record, because I heard the beginnings of a drum roll that got louder and louder and ended up with this screeching guitar and the rawest voice I had ever heard belting out "Breaking rocks in the hot sun...."The Clash had appeared to answer my prayers. I bought the album the same day. Clash City Rockers; White Riot; Police and Thieves; this album was solid punk rock and roll from start to finish. These guys went on to produce London Calling, which proved that they could play pretty much anything they wanted to. RIP Joe Strummer. Gold Stars: 15 GOLD STARS:RELATED ITEMS: |
