WHERE IT ALL BEGINS
The day I was born, in 1984.
Some of the coolest movies came out that year, too bad I had to wait till I was at least 6 to have seen most of them. This includes: Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Splash! (which was so fitting of my name Coral hehe), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, A Nightmare on Elm Street, All of Me, The Terminator, The Neverending Story, The Muppets Take Manhatten & Firestarter.
How cool is that?
I heard from my mom that I was a "surprise" baby. I was also born without a thyroid gland. (aplasia congenital hypothyroidism) If I didn't get medication before 2-3 months, i would have been perminently brain damaged. I feel so lucky...

Workers Carnival
Here's a photo of me with my two older sisters, Candice and Crystal. Candice was almost 3 and Crystal was almost 5. There used to be the coolest parties and carnivals happening. My parents both used to work at Nortel back in the day, and during the summer we would have these kinds of carnivals as well as indoor Xmas carnivals in the winter.
I actually do remember this. We were trotting along near the Merry-Go Round and I remember I didn't want to go on any rides, I just wanted to look at everything and my mom was trying take my hand and bring me around. I remember the petting zoos they had, and I think that's when I first saw a goat and I just loved them from then-on. I guess that's the Swiss girl in me, hahaha! Yodel-oo-oo-tee!
How cute was it that my mom made us all wear overalls? She liked to dress us up to match a lot, but I think my grandma got more of a kick out of that. I knew my sister Candice hated it...

Super Exhibition
Not only do I remember going to the worker's carnival, but I also remember my grandmother Cecelia taking us that same year to the Super Ex. She brought us every year until we were 10. It was always in August and I think this was my first exhibition.
I definitely remember riding in that boat. I always had a fascination with boats in general. When I got a little older at the Super Ex, they had a water version of boat rides that slid along shallow water and got you wet when you turned corners. I thought they were a lot more fun!
I also remember getting my first snow cone at the ex and getting it all over myself, and it dropped on the ground. I think it was blueberry flavored.
I'm the one wearing the yellow hood in the picture, and the girl in pink looking a lot like Dakota Fanning is my sister Crystal, along with my sister Candice sitting behind us next to some kid we didn't know.

Family Reunions
Here's me in the picture with the diaper and the blue shirt. I'm not exactly sure I remember what I was playing with, but there's other pictures of me tinkering with it and I really don't know what it is.
This is basically a photo of all my cousins, and my sister Candice standing on the top step in a pink striped shirt.
I'm not completely sure who's house we were at, but I do remember my cousins and how I was so shy of all of them. my sisters got along better with them, especially Candice.
I remember having family reunions mostly at my grandparent's on my mom's side. I do remember my grandma used to babysit for a short period of time, and she had a My Friend Doll with blond hair and a red checkered body, and a Paddington Bear. I also remember she had the coolest "kiddie table" that looked like it was made in the 1950s, because it had the coolest 50's storybook characters all over it, and the side rims were all red. I remember eating with my sisters and cousins at this little table, as well as playing with this ballet barbie from the 70s and looking at Archie Comics Books with Ads from the Johnson Smith Company on the back.

Barbie and Me
This was probably one of my first Barbie dolls on Christmas. I remember my sister and I had this huge barbie mansion, with a bedroom set, a fridge and sink and stove, and tons of Barbies with clothes & accessories. We had even gotten the "quintuplet" dolls later on when I was around 7. We were spoiled rotten with the Barbies, but that's most of what I seemed to have gotten a lot of as a little girl, especially from my aunt Linda.
This was definitely around that era where my mom bought us nothing but "sweat suits"...we all matched but had different colored ones. I thought they were comfy, to be honest! Here's me sitting on the couch with my sister Candice holding some unknown dolly. Is it just me, or do I sense a pattern of yellow, pink and blue in our outfits? Hmmmm. LOL

Christmas Morning
This picture always gets a chuckle out of me, 'cause I remember why my sister looks that way. It was Christmas morning and I had gotten the game Simon and she got a board game of Connect Four. In the photo she was complaining that I got "all the best stuff" which wasn't true. A lot of stuff my sister got was what I wanted sometimes, too. I guess we should have traded, but it didn't matter either way since we all kinda just played with each others toys. We had this big wicker basket for our toys, but before that around this time, we had a small toy box. I still wish I still had it, 'cause it was very popular at the time: A blue toy box on white wheels with a little lion on the front swinging by on a cloud with a rainbow in the back.
Man I loved Christmas morning as a kid. Oh yeah check out the Rainbow Brite Sprite PJ's I'm wearing!

My Two Front Teef
What a year that was!!! The first time I saw Child's Play. My sisters were actually these big horror movie nuts, and I'm so surprised thinking now how my parents actually let us watch such terrifying movies as a kid. LOL I was terrified of Chucky at the time, that's for sure. (later down the road, my fear subsided and now I'm this huge fan)
This was around the time I saw the Muppet show on TV, as well as cool shows like Beetlejuice, ALF, She-Ra & He-Man, Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show, My Pet Monster and The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. It was also the movie year of Ghostbusters 2, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Batman, Look Who's Talking, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
I was a shy kid but I defended myself if needed be. I was also weird. See that picture of me? I literally twisted my two front teeth out without them hurting or bleeding one day in gym class when I was bored listening to a lecture. Oh yeah, check out my "totally cool" jacket, too. Hahaha!

Three Of Us
I remember this being an excellent year. I got obsessed with mermaids after watching "The Little Mermaid" in theatres. That same year, because I was so into mermaids & I drew them everywhere, I also saw the movie Splash! on video. It was the year of the mermaids but also the year of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, which I was also very much into. One of my first fan arts was of Michelangelo with pencils and watercolor. My dad asked me if I traced from anywhere, and I said "Nope, it was from my memory". I think from that point on he knew I was really artistic.
I think I was Beetlejuice that year for Halloween...
I'm on the right in the picture, with my sis Candice in the middle and my oldest sister Crystal to the left. It was funny how much I didn't look like Candice, not in any little way. But I was a lot like Crystal. We were both pale, left-handed, light blue-eyed artsy-fartsy blond haired girls, whereas Candice was the tanned, brown haired with multicolored eyes and no interest in arts, but moreso being a little "teacher". She drove both Crystal and I crazy, but she was also a ton of fun, too.

Life's a Breeze
Man, so many cool movies came out that year. Well, what I thought were cool. Stuff like: Terminator 2, The Addams Family, An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Ernest Scared Stupid, Hook, My Girl, Problem Child 2, Rover Dangerfield, and my fave: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.
I remember that year my dad actually introduced me to the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I had no idea they were in theaters for some reason - liking the cartoon as much as I did, but he had bought me the VHS movie. That same year I saw the 2nd movie in my 2nd grade class. I remember we all ate pizza and had rainbow cupcakes. I sat with Ryan, Jackie (who then later moved away I never heard from again..boo) and Stephanie and it was really fun.
It was just a really fun year. I got a singing mermaid doll which voice sounded so eerie, but I loved it. I also got a "Baby Alive" doll and "Baby Face's "So innocent Cynthia." My Sister got "So Delightful DeeDee."
As you can see from the picture, my sis Candice and I really wore ourselves out. We ran through sprinklers, so most of the day was outside in our bathing suits. Man did we get some nasty sunburns.
