Posted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 1:38 pm Central Time Definitely Barbies for me, I loved dressing them and never thought I had enough clothes, when I had my girls I was totally obessed with buying clothes for their Barbies, the thing is once they dressed all their Barbies they didn't even want to play, with me it just went from one thing to another, parties in the townehouse, the plane, the pool, fashion shows, dates with G.I. I had like 1 barbie my entire childhood. A couple of baby dolls that I didn't play with they just sat on my shelf. I did have a few cabage patch kids that I still have today in a box. Didn't play with them cause then they'd get dirty.

I can remember playing with both until about the same time. But I guess babies would win out in the end, I still have my favorite baby doll but none of my old Barbie stuff.

I abused the dolls which I had. I have always undressed them and have thrown them against the wall ( I hope you do not think that I was a mad child. I loved the early fashions with all the cool accessories that you can't get anymore because they're considered "choking hazards." I loved the evening gowns most of all. However, I don't think I would have been allowed to wear most of them because when I was a teenager (and even an adult), my mother wanted me to look, dress, think and act like a nun -- she worked in a convent at the time. I was strictly forbidden jeans -- there were only Levis and Wranglers at the time -- and absolutely NO makeup -- no lipstick/lip gloss or nail polish -- the nuns must have told her it made girls a temptation to "others" (translation: boys!) I ached for pretty clothes, but she demanded that I only wear black, brown, gray and navy blue. Never let your mother work in a convent when you're a teenager!

But to choose it would be Barbies. We had all the accessories: the camper, the pool, the motor home, the dune buggy etc. The only thing I never got was the Dream Home. Oh well....my neighbor had one and so I would go over there and play with hers.
