Re: SHORT-LIVED FOODS, 1960's

I remember Fizzies. In sixth grade a girl liked me; her dad worked at the fizzies factory and she brought me lots of fizzies that I'd smuggle home in my trombone case.

Lots of cereals fit this description:
Banana Wackies
Twinkles
Sugar Jets
Puffa Puffa Rice
Crispy Critters
Rice Krinkles

Franco American Pizzo Pies
Hunt's Barbeque and Pizza flavored ketchup
Turkish Taffy
Tootsie Roll Fudge
Teem soda
Like soda
Bubble-Up soda
Black Cow all-day lollipops

Turkish Taffy

I liked breaking Turkish Taffy more than eating it. That stuff was hard on the teeth!

Wasn't "Bubble-Up" soda a rip-off of 7-Up? I remember I loved 7-Up went I was a kid, and my mom always bought it for me. At one point she started buying Bubble-Up, probably because it was cheaper.

Bubble-Up was sugar free as I recall. I think it was before Diet 7-Up came out.

"Sugar free Bubble-Up has a pizzazz...
That's what sugar free Bubble -Up has."

Ah, they don't write 'em like they used to.

I remember Rice Krinkles! They were my favorite as a child--sugar coated Rice Krispies, essentially...my grandmother always had them on the shelf.

Here's a cereal that came and died quickly--QUANGAROOS! Nothing like orange-flavored breakfast cereal to start off your day! Shocked

Micro Magic tried something similar in the 80s, along with microwaveable hamburgers/cheeeseburgers/chicken sandiwiches and french fries(which weren't half bad, as I recall), they had frozen shakes you thawed in the microwave. They were okay, but sometimes you'd get a hot spot--Yuck!

The Strawberry Filled Twinkies were very short lived.

Re: SHORT-LIVED FOODS, 1960's

I wonder if anyone remembers this. They made this french fries, called I Hate Peas. They were french fries that were stuffed with peas! You could see green stripes down the side of the fries. I guess that thought that kids wouldn't notice the green stripe and the pea taste. I think they even had other fries stuffed with other vegtables. I know that we got the Pea fries one time. They were awful and we never got them again. I still HATE peas.

The Who did radio commercials for Great Shakes. I think The Yardbirds did too.
