Ok, how do YOU pronounce "Reeses Pieces?"
Posted: Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:35 am Central Time
This has been bugging me for years, so I'm finally gonna ask. I've heard the name of this candy pronounced two ways almost consistantly through the years.
So how do you pronounce "Reeses Pieces?"
(1) Ree-Sez Pee-Sez
(2) Ree-Sees Pee-Sees
I always used option one. But I know so many people in real life and on TV that use option 2. |

Option 1 for me too. I've always thought that the correct pronuciation for Reeses is Ree-sez (at least when I see anything about the Hershey company that's how they pronounce it!). |

Definitely Option 1. Two sounds like a pre-schooler saying it. _________________ Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional. |

Option 1. Obviously "Reese's" is supposed to rhyme with "pieces". And the creator of the peanut butter cup was named "Reese", which rhymes with "geese". His name wasn't pronounced "Ree-see". _________________ You're way too intelligent for my sarcasm.

Option #1.
Number #2 (REE-Sees PEE-sees) sounds too much like "feces". (I guess that's why it's '#2'!) |

Option one for me too.
Here in the deep south (or redneck heaven) most call the famous chocolate covered peanut butter cups:
Reesee Cuups
I would venture to guess they refer to the peanut butter in the hard candy shell in the same manner. _________________ People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

I don't think there's too many people in Canada that pronounce it the second way.

I'll definitely use option one although where I live, I hear plenty of people who say Ree Seez. |
