"Ebony Eyes" by Bob Welch

In 1977, there was a song titled "Ebony Eyes", by Bob Welch, which sounded just a wee bit like something ELO might have recorded.  Does anybody remember this song?

I've always thought it was cool in that 70s disco/rock kinda ELO way.  And upon YouTubing it, I discovered that Welch also recorded "Sentimental Lady", another old favorite of mine, which for some reason I thought was recorded by Seals & Crofts.   Or was that Shields & Yarnell?  Ah, it was the 70s--it's all the same, right?

the original version of SENTIMENTAL LADY was on the (great) FLEETWOOD MAC album BARE TREES, when WELCH was still in that band.   that version has an extra verse, and CHRISTINE MCVIE's backing vocals are more prominent.  the singles SENTIMENTAL LADY, EBONY EYES and HOT LOVE COLD WORLD, from BOB's first solo disc FRENCH KISS, are classic slices of 70s pop rock...

Yes, I remember it well...great song! I'd never thought about it before, but now that you mention it, I can see some resemblance to some of ELO's songs of the period. Both "Sentimental Lady" versions are favorites of mine as well.
