Of course, Boy's Life came free with being a Cub Scout (at least I think it did...My parents say they never ordered it but it came to our house for two years!) And I pretty much just sat with my friends and made fun of everything in it because it was soooo cheesy. |

Highlights was cool along with others. The majority of the time I would read comic books. |

Sixteen, Photoplay, and Movie Screen? I just loved the photos that were in color, of my favorite movie stars and singers. view
i remember reading those too(during the "starker and hutch" era)...they don't make magazines like those trashy tabloits in supermarkets. |

Two history mags: Cobblestone and Faces, both published by the same company; Faces was more about culture
American Girl, when the mag came out in the 80s (I still read it at the library sometimes)
YM (in high school)
I also read my mom's Guide Posts and Reader's Digests... I loved the "Drama in Real Life" section in Reader's Digest.
And in college during the 90s I subscribed to 2 ethnic newspapers:
The Irish Voice (my dorm director was a Proddy from Northern Ireland and she HATED the Irish Voice as she considered it "Catholic Propaganda" and a "tool for the IRA")
Some Polish-American newspaper that I forgot the name of.
My boyfriend's favorite magazine is Scientific American and his favorite Polish newspaper is the online edition of the Warsaw Electoral Gazette.
In my family, we were all readers of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, except that the only section I read was the students' section, "Class Acts." At my high school, you were nobody if you didn't read it. That was how you kept up with the happenings in town. Oh, and when I took business in high school, I had to read the business section every week and write a report on it. |

For a year or so, I had a subscription to Daisy magazine (intended for younger Girl Scouts).
I used to order Supermag and Dynamite through the Scholastic book flyers that were handed out at school. I also had a few issues of Cracked.
As a teenager, I read 'TEEN, Seventeen, Young Miss and occasionally Mademoiselle or Glamour. |

Ranger Rick, Highlights, Cricket
I haven't really looked through a Cricket in a while, but I noticed that the "Ranger Rick and His Friends" stories have been updated to graphic novel (comic) form. Nothing against comics, but it just looked odd to me.
And Highlights: Goofus and Gallant look weird now in their "cartoony" form. I miss the charcoal illustrations. |

I started with My Big Backyard, graduated to Ranger Rick, and then my grandmother bought me a subscription to National Geographic Kids. I wish I had saved all the old issues. I also wished that I had a subscription to Highlights, and I loved reading it in the doctor's office. |
