Cool Clothes
Posted: Thu Mar 27, 2008 11:26 pm Central Time
What clothes did you think were cool? (In your younger days)
I remember always wanting white or black stretchy Go-Go boots and unique colored Adidas. Candie's and Calvin Klein jeans were "it" in jr & high school.

Remember those HyperColor T-shirts? The shirts that changed colour with your body heat? The "must-have" fashion accessory of 1993?
I always thought they were kind of cool. I never owned one, but I'd say that a quarter of my classmates in 6th grade rode the HyperColor wave. _________________ "Every heartbeat is a soundtrack to your life" ~ Kylie Minogue |

It's funny, but I've seen mention here on RL before about how HyperColor shirts were so big in 1993. I had one in about 1989, and apparently I was the only person in the universe who owned one! I would wear it on my college campus and people would come up and ask me where I got it quite a few times. I never really saw anyone else wear one, and I certainly don't remember them being big in 1993! Funny how things are in different regions, huh? _________________ Zombies, man. They creep me out. |

In 1981 when I was in 5th grade you needed turf shoes to be cool.I had Pony turf shoes like these pictured below

If you combined the turf shoes with a satin jacket you achieved "Fonzie" cool status.

Candie's clogs, definitely. In fact, they were dark blue 'mule' clogs and had a big, chunky, clunky wooden heel. All the girls had them. Also, granny square sweater vests were pretty cool. Granny square anything was cool, especially the tote bags made from milk cartons and the granny square pattern. Ponchos and gauchos were cool, too. |

We did the totes in Home Ec, LOL:-) The teacher was also a Girl Scout leader and taught her girls the art of granny square milk carton totes. Loved those things and all the older ladies carried these on the bus all the time:-) Fun memory:-) Gauchos are fun, aren't they? We used to call them 'Chrissy Snow's' The Candies also had a buckle on them! The fashions back then were great; glad stuff keeps coming back. |

One of the biggest things when I was a teen were Sweet Orr pants. They were like regular Dickies flat front slacks with an elastic waistband. They had piping down the side. The cool thing was to have different colors. _________________ People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

As far as High School goes being a "Madonna Wannabee" was in--as for Jr. high anything preppy was in--Argyle sweaters,Izod alligator or Polos shirts, Dickies panter's pants, clogs and bermuda bags were the fads of choice.
