Running again
Posted: Sun Jan 25, 2009 7:21 am Central Time
Have just begun to run again after a 7 month break. Who here wants to join in a support group to motivate each other in Physical fitness? _________________

That's great! I bought a Wii Fit yesterday; nothing like having a video game insult you. _________________ Wake up and smell the coffee, Mrs. Bueller. It's a fool's paradise. |

It was like watching that "Weird Al" video for FAT! Then Raggedy Ann gets on it and it tells her that she is 10 years younger than she really is!!! _________________ Wake up and smell the coffee, Mrs. Bueller. It's a fool's paradise. |

I walked downstairs this morning, only to be greeted by my 16 year old complaining, "I love this thing, but it made my Mii chubby!" |

Do you have a spring marathon picked out yet, or are you just going for overall fitness?
I won't even think about running again until the paths and streets are clear of ice, I HATE treadmills,so I am not with you right now oh green one.
I am still kicking ass in the weightlifting. I am proud to say that I am two weeks shy of my 38th birthday and am in the best shape of my life!
I am floating between 185-190lbs bodyweight and I am pretty ripped up. I want the 300lb bench press that has eluded me my whole life.Right now I am maxing 270lbs bench press and going up slowly and steadily every week. I WILL get to 300.
I may try a fall marathon as it would be my 5th,but as of now I am zoned in on the weights.
Good luck Hulk, I'm with you in spirit _________________ Far better it is to dare mighty things than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a grey twilight that knows neither victory or defeat....T.Roosevelt |

No races lined up, I don't know if I have competition at heart anymore, we'll see? 270 that's pretty good, how many reps you up to with that? I'm at the 195-200 mark with my weight. I hope to turn the rest of the fat into muscle, lets see if I can do it this time round.
As for winter running, I love it, I run on the streets that have been cleared here(we have bicycle lanes here so I don't have to worry much about cars killing me) The treadmill is even better softer and I can watch TV, then jump right into a hot-tub afterwards. Plus at the workout center I can oogle the girls and do some weights. _________________

I'm getting ready too, the only thing I've been doing since the cold weather has me stuck in the house is my exercise bike, I can't wait to go back out riding. _________________ Well behaved women rarely make history-Lauren Thatcher Ulrich

Sorry Hulk, I have always hated running. But, from Spring through Fall, six days a week I take a fast walk. A minimum of 2 1/2 miles up to 5 miles depending on how much time I have. During the Winter I use my Iron Horse II for a half hour each day. I also do pushups and a couple of other exercises every other day.
Here is the Iron Horse II - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrWcOUMyJbs&feature=related
Now what about the diet? |

I'm all for staying in shape. I've always loved to work out. I lift weights every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for over two hours. On Tuesday and Wednesday's I do cardio (jog, stepper, etc.) Every Saturday I jog 6 miles early in the morning. |

Sorry for not responding to this post until now, but I generally don't read the Sports forum. I came here accidentally. But anyway...I just started a running program today, as a matter of fact. I'm following a running podcast I downloaded that puts you on the path to running 5K in 9 weeks. My first session today went great. I got a good work out, yet it didn't totally wipe me out like when I ran on my own 'plan'. I'll be running every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. We shall see how it goes!
