Artists/Bands That Sound Like Other Artists/Bands
Posted: Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:06 pm Central Time
At one time or another you've all probably heard a song by someone that sounded like or reminded you of another artist or band. What all artists can you think of that you thought were someone else when you first heard them, or at least reminded you of another artist? Here's two to get the "list" started:
Ace Of Base...sounds like ABBA (especially in the song "Beautiful Life")
Dishwalla...sounds like Gin Blossoms ("Counting Blue Cars") |

Earl Grant ("The End") sounded eerily like Nat King Cole. |

In the mid=80s, thought Giuffria sounded a lot like Journey, although really it was just that their lead singer sounded so much like Steve Perry. _________________ Zombies, man. They creep me out. |

Even radio DJs compared Kenny Loggin's "This Is It" to Michael Jackson. (NO CRACKS!) _________________ Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional. |

I know there have been Beatles soundalikes over the years, with a few during the Beatles era (late 1960s), including:
The Monkees
Peter And Gordon (A World Without Love)
The Hollies (Bus Stop)
The Mindbenders (A Groovy Kind Of Love) |

There are several Elvis sound alikes, the best of which were Ral Donner and Terry Stafford.
Bobby Vee made a great effort to sound like Buddy Holly. |

NEW EDITION's CANDY GIRL is a dead ringer for the JACKSON FIVE
NO MATTER WHAT--BADFINGER=BEATLES
HERE COMES THE NIGHT--THEM=ROLLING STONES
the huge 1993 dance hit WHAT IS LOVE by HADDAWAY (WILL FERRELL and CHRIS KATTAN's theme song in those SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE skits)...sounds just like STEVE WINWOOD is singing.

Speaking of Steve Winwood, he sounds a lot like Genesis in many of his songs, especially during the early/mid 1980s. |

John Cafferty did a dead on impression of Bruce Springsteen.
A local band that almost broke through was The Pinheads...the lead singer sounded just like David Lee Roth
Personally I could never tell the difference between Blues Traveler and The Dave Matthews Band. It all sounded the same to me. _________________ Far better it is to dare mighty things than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a grey twilight that knows neither victory or defeat....T.Roosevelt |

A Welsh band called The Alarm got grief from people who said they sounded too much like U2. I noted the resemblance and bought a couple of their albums. Good music is good music, says I. _________________ Habit Is Either The Best Of Servants Or The Worst Of Masters |

Every &^%$ing "nu metal" and so called "rock" band that has any iota of mainstream success in the past few years, ( 3 doors door, Nickelback, Hinder, ETC ETC ad nauseum) have a lead singers who all have a whiny, breathy, overly dramatic, histrionic vocal style.
They all sound like Gavin Rossdale from Bush to me. |
