What is HAPPENING to TV Land?!?!?!?!
Posted: Tue Apr 14, 2009 9:19 am Central Time
Why are they putting on dreck like "The Cougar"? TV Land used to be something special, and now it's just like most other channels. |

TV Lands quality has been declining for a few years now. I haven't watched it in several months and don't plan on watching it any time soon. |

I'm with Major Havoc! I stopped watching TV Land awhile ago. They are just becoming a network without any real identity. It sucks. |

To think, the name "TV Land" was derived from a phrase first coined in the fifties. _________________ Oh Gloria, with hair like granite. |

TVLand has too many repeats....they don't show enough variety. Haven't watched it in years. |

They should have a different night devoted to each decade and a separate channel for each genre (sci-fi, game shows, drama, sitcoms, etc.) _________________

Viacom owns TV Land so they show a lot of Viacom, CBS, and Paramount Television-produced reruns.
Showing tv reruns made by Universal, Fox, Warner, Columbia/Screen Gems, and so on would probably cost a lot to acquire.
Some studios just don't share and prefer to save their reruns for their own digital or cable channels or to the highest bidding network they don't own. _________________ "Over one thousand served" |

TV Land still has classic programming (Andy Griffith, Bonanza, etc). It's just that they've added too many recent shows, new shows, and originals. I miss Gilligan, Fantasy Island, Mr. Ed, and the Munsters.
I can still remember the Nick at Nite lineup when I was a kid:
The Munsters
The Wonder Years
The Wonder Years
I Love Lucy
I think that was it. _________________ Oh Gloria, with hair like granite. |

The only show I'm watching on it now is All in the Family. They already took off I Love Lucy, and they might've gotten rid of M*A*S*H. If AITF goes, so do I. |

I blame MTV. They started the trend of changing from their original format of music videos to junk entertainment. They had to start new channels to show videos on. I know it's all about revenue that's why it happens but it would be nice to have TV Land stay true to their orginal purpose of showing classic and forgotten television programs. _________________ Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh - after that I sorta space out for an hour. |

TV Land also use to reruns"The A&C Show","Maverick",'The Adventures Of Superman"..
but now?
They show this damn, reality &*!#..the same as the networks..that is not good or true
tv programming.
And neither is the upmteemth rerun of "All In The Family","The Jeffersons"or"Good Times".
Just showing reruns of"The Andy Griffith Show..is not what I would call true nostalgia!
Even"The TV Land"Awards..which honors today's &*!# and not the true pioneers of
TV's past is not what TV Land should be about.
We the tv viewers deserve better programming..but sadly?
We're never going to find it on any network, cable or PBS TV station in this
country.
Not as long as Viacom and the other stupid programmers only care about
shows that are cheap to acquire, cheap to create, produce and present..show the
worst and the most greedy and stupid of society and gain the most neilsen ratings
and earn for these programming jerks..the most emmys and sag awards.
Or bogus intellectual tv shows on PBS(The Putzy Broadcasting Systems)
Which IMNSHO!(Meaning in my not so humble opinion)is not really worth It!

I agree with all of you, and it's not just MTV's stations...Boomerang is a good example too. |
