Watchmen 80's Cartoon Series

Does anybody remember this show?  I forgot all about it!  It was awesome!  Now I can't get that theme song out of my head.

I used to love this show! Remember the episode about the evil ventriloquist dummy? That was cool. For me the show jumped the shark when they added that "cute" robot. He was totally unnecessary.

I've seen the previews of this cartoon before.  I'm sure it was better then the movie.  The Watchmen Movie was terrible.

Are you kidding me? "Watchmen" was one of the best superhero movies ever. I mean, there's no way any adaptation could have lived up to the graphic novel, but it was nowhere near being "terrible."  What didn't you like about it?

I liked Watchmen as well, I have the directors cut 2 DVD edition..lol

But I been a fan since the mini-series came out, when it came out as a trade paperback in the 80's  I bought it, first printing, friend had the original mini-series comics, offered to trade me, I decided to keep the trade paperback.

I know, just messing with everybody.  Besides, that's a well-made spoof, in my opinion.  It sends up those 80s cartoon/toy tie-in shows so perfectly.  And I love how it lampoons so many things from the graphic novel.   I think if someone COULD do a cartoon like this as sort of a parody of the comic, it'd be hilarious.  As for the movie, I have yet to see it.  I just finished reading the novel a few weeks ago.

****SPOILER ALERT---DON'T READ ANY FARTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR A POTENTIAL PLOT POINT!****

From what I've read, the ending of the movie is changed to eliminate the giant space squid, which is fine with me--I thought that was incredibly stupid in the novel.  They had me up until that point.  Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable read.

I went with a group of my buddies.  The majority of them fell asleep.  I even saw other people in the theater alseep as well.  Now grant it, the action scenes (what little they had) were good, but the movie was ridiculously slow.  I even saw a few people walk our due to the slowness of the movie.  It did terrible in the box office.  It didn''t even make the top 100 grossing films of all time.  It didn't even make $200 million.  That is awful.  I've read many reviews, they practically all say that this movie was just too boring and slow.

I have to agree with you 1000% Mikey.  I went with my boyfriend.  He is a big Superhero fan, he loves them.  We went to the 9:30 showing.  The beginning was good, after that, despite a little action here and there.....it was downhill from there.  We both kept dosing off.  He wanted to leave, but I said give it a chance.  I was wrong, if I could do it all over again.....I would have left.  TOOOOO Long and Slow.

Your friends falling asleep says more about your friends than it does the movie.

I'd hardly call $107 million at the box office "terrible" or "awful."

A film doesn't need to be in the top 100 grossing films to be considered "good." There are lots of bad films in the top 100.

So, only movies that top  $200 million at the box office are good in your opinion?

"Watchmen" got a "fresh" rating at Rotten Tomatoes. I wouldn't consider that "practically all" reviews calling the movie "boring and slow."

Don't let Rotten Tomatoes be the only site that you go to to check out the review of the Watchmen.  There are plenty of other sites that thought the Watchmen to be a snooze fest.  Think about it, as much time, MONEY and effort WB and others put into this movie, it only made $107 million.  They didn't even make the money back.  WB even expressed their disappointment in the film.  Compared to other Superhero movies (Dark Knight $1,000,000,000+, Iron Man $500,000,000+, Incredible Hulk $250,000,000+, Hancock $500,000,000+) the Watchmen under-performed in the box office

Check out this from www.hollywoodreporter.com

Its costumed superheroes, operating in an alternative 1985, are seriously screwed up -- and so is their movie.  It is too long and slow.

The film seems to take pride in its darkness, but this is just another failed special effect. Cinematographer Larry Fong and production designer Alex McDowell blend real and digital sets with earthen tones and secondary colors that give a sense of the past. But the stories are too absurd and acting too uneven to convince anyone.

There are many other sites, not just Rotten Tomatoes.  So, seeing how Rotten Tomatoes (seemingly the only review site in the world to you) may have given it somewhat descent reviews, there are many other sites that don't.  Although you liked the movie, you have to admit it did indeed under-perform.

But, you are definitely entitled to your opnion.

You know, I could not have said it better myself.  Very well said, I didn't like this movie.

Rotten Tomatoes combines all of the critics reviews to get their score. Therefore, if RT gave "Watchmen" a fresh rating, that means that the majority of critics out there liked the movie.

And again, box office is not what determines if a movie is good or not. Plenty of bad movies do good at the box office while plenty of excellent movies don't do good at the box office.
