Would you believe I've never seen Maypo, except on a TV ad? |

I loved that stuff so naturally it is no longer made. I guess when Mr. Bonomo died, the company died with him. |

Dear EddiemarkStarr,
I remember that promo for"Chunky Chocolate"candy bars.
With the "Chunky"Ship going thru the bridge and the tune playing
"Thick,Chunk,Chunk Chunky! Open Wide For Chunky!".
In those days? Those candy bars sold for a nickel..you look at that
price and you want to cry!
Because..nobody sells candy bars for that price anymore!
"Chunky"is still being made today..but..not by the same company.
The Ward Baking Company made "Chunkies","Bit O'Honey"Candy bars
and "Bond"bread and "Tip Top Lucky Cakes"..the company no longer exists.
"Chunky" is now made by The Nestles Candy Co.
Thank God!
We still have "Chunky".
Kevin S.Butler Formerley"Nostalgia TV!".
P.S.The voices provided for "The Chunky"candy bar tv plug and
The animated tv plug for "Jello"featuring the asian kid..are performed
by two gentlemen..that I was lucky enough to meet..Mr. Mason Adams
..best remembered as newpaper editor"Charlie Hume"on "The Lou Grant TV Show"
and Entertainer Allen Swift..best remembered by NYC kids as"Capt.Allen"on WPIX
TV Ch.11 NYC's"Popeye Show!".

Thank you Kevin! I love getting background of TV ads I remember from the good old days.
As long as I live I will never forget my first "Chunky' cany bar. Wow, that bar was huge! I really did have to open wide, LOL!! And, oh lordy, that Chunky was GOOD! I wanted another one but I didn't have any more money. When I was a kid, a nickle or a dime had to last all day! |

Love it!
That first one with the woman and the paper horns has been 'sampled' into some more recent works (I'm thinking an old Nick promo from the 90s)
Btw, was that good ol' Mason Adams voicing that Chunky commercial?

I remember hearing him on those Smuckers commercials
Another of my favorites who did a lot of radio ads and TV voiceovers is Patty Lane's 'father' William Schallart. |

Once you've heard Mason Adams' voice, it's difficult to forget it!
