Vintage Dinosaur Books
Posted: Tue Aug 11, 2009 5:53 pm Central Time
A lot has been added to our knowledge of dinosaurs over the last 20 years but I still have a soft spot in my heart for the dinosaur books I read, re-read, and read again as a little boy.
Recently, I tried to hunt down a book that I regularly checked out from my library but never owned and, in so doing, came across this site, which is sure to delight any former/current dinosaur geek like myself: http://mysite.verizon.net/markcrowell/Welcome%20to%20Vintage%20Dinosaur%20Books.html

I have a ton of dinosaur books stretching from the early 1970s until today. One of my favorites was Prehistoric Animals : The 1976 Childcraft Annual. Dinosaurs were my favorite things when I was growing up. I still love to read about them and I like all of the BBC videos about them and other prehistoric life. |

What they can do with CGI nowadays is amazing. Did you see Walking with Dinosaurs or any of the episodes of Jurassic Fight Club? Really good stuff, I thought. |

I have a bunch of vintage dino books from when I was a kid. I'll do my best to scan some covers and share, soon..!
Stuff like the How and Why Book of Prehistoric Animals; stuff by the real-life Indian Jones, Roy Chapman Andrews, etc. _________________ Matthew Wayne Selznick

Anyone else remember a bizarre book I vaguely recall from my grade school library, Riding A Dinosaur?
It was about an invisible dinosaur who, for reasons that escape me, shrinks a guy to kid-size and takes him on a cross-country journey. |

I bet I had the same 'How & Why' book-- actually, I had a couple of them. My personal favorite was "Life Before Man," which I acquired when I was in about the 5th grade.
