Music you don't like
Posted: Sat Oct 03, 2009 1:31 pm Central Time
Bluegrass/Country- I just find them too hokey
Modern Metal- all they do is growl and yell
Alternative- too mainstream, I prefer indie
Modern pop- only kids and tweenyboppers would like artists like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers
Modern R&B- it's become too much like pop
Modern hip hop- lyrics aside, hip hop is just plain annoying nowadays
Adult Alternative- today's singer-songwriters don't appeal to me for some reason _________________ Oh Gloria, with hair like granite. |

Everything you said but bluegrass.
Bluegrass is country music's bebop.
I would also add Metal with cookie monster vocals. |

i think the type of metal you guys are referring to that is mainly composed of growled vocals would be death metal. and with that genre, i agree with you guys completely. metal as a whole i've never much cared for, but there's definitely some stuff here and there that grabs my attention.
as for the rest:
rap/hip hop- like rm, i'm becoming more annoyed with the melodies used in these genres recently. while a few strive for a rich beat, most are mixed to the point that it sounds painful to listen to. and as far as the lyrics go, the genre is dead to me.
alternative rock- maybe it's just me, but the genre is way too emo now.
pop- i enjoyed it in my early teens, but to once again riff against a younger generation, i honestly don't understand what kids see (or hear) in it nowadays. _________________ can't talk now, the ninjas are watching me think.

Current pop music. I don't mind old pop music. Or anything that would be considered cool Top 40 Radio.
Gansta Rap: That's on its way out.
Justin Timberlake: Ugh! I don't know what people see in that self-indulgent #$$%*&^
Kanye West. The self professed #$$%*&^.
If I think of anything else I'll repost it here. |

Anything using Autotune as if it was an instrument... except, of course, Auto-Tune the News.
Seriously, though, I remember when Cher's "Believe" came out, taking a "secret" production tool that "fixes" flat vocals and making it an element of the song itself. I couldn't stand it then, and now it's in almost every song you hear on pop radio.
Hm... might be why I avoid commercial radio... _________________ Matthew Wayne Selznick

I grew up with Country music, which is why I detest it so much. You can only listen to 'My Woman, My Woman, My Wife' so many times before something snaps.
Really, though, I can sort of enjoy very old school stuff, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash and the like, and some of the freakier stuff from the 60's and 70's is fun in a kitschy sort of way. But it seems like Country's evolved into the blues for people whose lives really aren't all that bad.
My line used to be, heavy metal's for people who are incredibly stupid and pissed off about it; Country's for people who are too stupid to be pissed off about it; and rap's for people who are too stupid to realize they're not even singing.
But then, I love Tiny Tim, so what do I know? |

@wildpuma: you don't like blues rock? Are you crazy?
HAVE YOU TRIED
Stevie Ray Vaughan
George Thorogood
Eric Clapton
ZZ Top
If those don't convince you, nothing will. Then again, my sister doesn't like country rock. _________________ Oh Gloria, with hair like granite. |

Modern Pop
Cher
Barbara Streisand
Mariah Carey (I don't care if I spelled her name incorrectly... I can't stand her anyway, so I really don't give a rat's hiney)
Journey (GAG)
Most hair bands I found simply an embarrassment to the music community.
Michael Bolton
Rick Springfield
and Bon Jovi.
Everything else is music.

All I don't like by Journey is "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'". I can only hear "Na na na na" for so long.
What's wrong with hair bands? They're just the counterculture of the 70s/80s.
