Baked potatos

What do you put on your baked potato?
Traditionally, I simply put salt, pepper, and butter. Today, however, I put beans and melted cheese. Yum! _________________ Oh Gloria, with hair like granite. |

Just butter and salt & pepper! I don't need anything else!

So far I've liked everything I've seen mentioned which probably explains why I am constantly fighting the battle of the bulging belly.... |

I don't eat baked potatoes anymore. they are fattening, with all that starch. B-but when I did eat them, I liked it plain with a little salt and if the skin was done right, I like it a little crispy, cus I would eat the whole thing from the inside out. _________________

I don't know where you got that information. A baked potato, skin and all, has practically no fat in it. It's a good source of complex carbohydrates, fiber and various vitamins. It's probably one of the best foods you can eat.

That's true. A naked baked potato has very little fat, and is a good source of vitamins. However, if you have to watch your starch intake - as I do - baked potatos become just a once-in-a-while treat.

view Starch (a form of Sugar) is easily converted to fat by the body. Sad but true. The skin on the hand, is a great source of vitamins and such.
All the sugars and starches (carbohydrates) are converted into glucose, which is the body’s key source of energy. After each meal, the glucose levels in the body rise in the bloodstream and insulin is released by the pancreas.
Unused starches/sugars will be converted to fat for storage. So yes potatoes are good for you, if you can utilize the energy it gives you, however; if you eat a baked potato and then go sit watch TV etc... then you might as well eat a table spoon of raw sugar. _________________

I don't mind baked potatoes, but I don't eat them that often. When I do, I don't really put much of anything on them. My nephew, who is notorious for mixing odd combos of food that surprisingly taste not too bad, like to put barbecue sauce on them. Can't say I agree with the tastiness of that combo, but if he likes it., that's all good. _________________ "Every heartbeat is a soundtrack to your life" ~ Kylie Minogue |

New policy apparently ... if it's not sufficiently "retro", it gets moved here. List threads go to die on the Wordplay board where they suffocate among the A-Z lists that keep repeating some of the same answers every round or so. _________________ "Life moves pretty fast.
