Fortunately, most of the spam members are passive (they're not posting up a storm to drive traffic to their affiliate sites and whatnot) so the impact they're having is minimal. The main reason to eliminate them is because they artificially inflate our membership numbers. Most of them never log in past the one time it takes to activate their account. We're getting to them -- but there are higher priority things to do that have a bigger impact on the health and success of the site, as well.
