Chiclets

Chiclets

Some people prefer their gum in stick form. Others have grown accustomed to the slight crunch that a candy coating offers, as is commonly found in the typical gumball. Problem is, gumballs aren’t exactly the sort of thing that is easily carried in one’s pocket, unless you have an affinity for chewing lint. Continue reading...

Good Humor

Good Humor

There are many trucks roaming the streets of summer, playing their sing-song melodies and offering their soothing wares to neighborhoods filled with children. Of all the various ice cream men out there, however, only one company can claim that they not only sell these frozen treats, but that they actually invented ice cream on a stick. With their white trucks and well-dressed drivers, Good Humor has led the pack for almost a century. Continue reading...

HI-C

Hi-C

We can trace many of our beloved comfort foods back to the post-war 50s, an era which introduced such future staples as Jello Instant Pudding and Rice-a-Roni. The innovative decade also brought a new fruity beverage in a big tin can called Hi-C. A perfect thirst-quencher on a hot summer's day, and (slightly) healthier than soda pop, kids loved it from the beginning and continue to gulp down glasses of the sweet concoction some sixty years later. If only there was some form of footwear specifically for play, shoes that could get scuffed and dirty without the scorn of a parent’s watchful eye, all would truly be right in the world. Their eventual shoe savior was a company called Keds, who have provided footwear for appreciative kids and adults for nearly a hundred years. Continue reading...
