And unlike Paul McCartney’s solo band, these guys actually wore wings. Straight from the depths of the Tranquility Forest, it’s that lovable flying fab four, The Bugaloos!

On July 11, 1987, a prime-time special entitled Good Morning, Miss Bliss aired on NBC. Soon after, it became a series on the Disney Channel, starring The Parent Trap's Hayley Mills as the teacher, Miss Bliss. Among her students were a young Zack, Screech, and Lisa. Their principal was Mr. Belding, who could switch from best pal to stern disciplinarian at a moment's notice. The show moved to NBC in 1989, soon to become the network's first live-action hit since Land of the Lost in 1977. Playing with the big boys now, the show got rid of its title character as well as its title. Now known as Saved by the Bell, the new show featured Zack (the "preppie" stud), Screech (the nerd) and Lisa (aspiring dress designer), as well as their new friends Slater (the handsome jock), Kelly (the boys' object of desire) and Jessie (the intelligent girl).

Eerie, Indiana

Imagine taking the quirkiness of a David Lynch-type series and applying it to a show for kids. The result might look something like Eerie, Indiana, which aired for a single season on NBC in 1991 and followed the adventures of a boy and his best friend who, much to their dismay, live in one of the most bizarre towns imaginable.

If there is one quality that all superheroes share, it is their affinity for the alter ego. It is the only thing that allows them a semblance of a normal life, free to hang up the cape for a bit and mingle among the less extraordinary, do some grocery shopping, even try to engage in a bit of romance. And while their occupational choices have ranged from nurse to newspaper reporter, perhaps none has ever set the bar lower than a canine custodian named Penrod Pooch. Spending his day with mop in hand, he is hardly noticed by his co-workers as he goes about his chores. Sgt. Flint looks down upon him, nasal-voiced switchboard operator Rosemary is polite, yet understandably unimpressed. But little do they know, they are in the midst of greatness.

The Brady Kids

With the enduring popularity of the hit series, The Brady Bunch, on prime time, it was inevitable that the clan would eventually make their way to the Saturday morning lineup in cartoon form. Paramount Studios and Filmation Studios teamed up to bring the lovable little six-pack of moppets to animated life in The Brady Kids in 1972, running concurrently with the sitcom.
